Vinyl Flooring Advantages And Disadvantages
Oct 16, 2017

Vinyl flooring has been the choice of popular flooring in the United States for many years and it still accounts for about 15% of annual floor expenses in the country. When most people talk about vinyl flooring they usually consider sheet flooring. However, there are other forms of flooring made of vinyl, such as tiles and wood. Because they are made from vinyl and share some common features and have many of the same advantages and disadvantages.

advantage

Capacity: The main advantage of ethylene is its ability to withstand. While it can be imitated in the appearance of high-end flooring, vinyl flooring is relatively inexpensive and can be installed as little as $ 5 per square foot.

Extensive color selection: All vinyl flooring is in a wide range of colors to suit and easily adapt to almost any decoration.

Installation is quick and easy: available in bricks and planks, as well as bed sheets, is easy to install. Tiles are usually in the 12-inch square, so they are easy to handle and both sides of the tiles and wood are often made "peeled, stick" backing, which means they are easy for the owners to put themselves down (save money for professional installation).

Moisture resistance: vinyl flooring is completely waterproof, so it can be used in the home, including the main layer, upper and below levels almost anywhere. It works especially in the bathroom and kitchen, where the water is often on the floor.

Easy to clean: water only need beads on the surface, so it is easy to sweep. Also, regular cleaning and occasional wet mopping is all that needs to keep a plastic floor clean and bright all.

Durability: Most vinyl flooring on the ethylene itself is above the "wear-resistant layer" (sometimes up to three), so it's resistant to normal traffic wear.

Comfort: Ethylene is a "flexible" floor, which means that its texture is soft and has a little bit of "give" when you walk on top to make it a good working platform you can stand for a few hours.

Disadvantages

Petroleum products: Ethylene is made from oil, so from an environmental point of view, because it is made from a non-renewable resource which is a bad product.

No skinning: Although the wear layer is designed to protect the floor, after several years of traffic the surface will begin to show signs of scratches and wear. Unlike wood, vinyl ground can not have a new finish application.

Fade: Vinyl can not stand up, UV rays are exposed to prolonged exposure to sunlight under patterns and colors, and vinyl flooring will begin to fade.

Difficult or impossible to repair: Although ethylene is durable, it is difficult to repair if it is not damaged. Vinyl tiles or sheets can be removed and installed with a new one, but a piece of vinyl flooring needs to be replaced.

The irregularity of the surface: with the passage of time some of the vinyl flooring develops on the edge or bumps along the joints or curls.
